We just found out about geodata.gov - a website that provides free access to lots of government data and maps. There you can find information about: administrative and political boundaries, agriculture and farming, soil resources, water resources, atmospheric and climatic data, biology and ecology data, geological and geophysical data, business and economic data, cadastral data, cultural, social and demographic data, and information on archeology and anthropology.
