A total solar eclipse passed over northern
Africa and the Mediterranean on Wednesday, March 29. The event is captured on the satellite image sequence shown below. In this solar eclipse sequence you can see a black area (shadow of the Moon) move from the bottom center of the image to the top right corner of the image. The dark black area, about 160 kilometers (100 miles across) is the region of "totality" where the moon is completely eclipsing the sun.)
