These five to fifteen millimeter-size particles are all representatives of a single mineral group which occurs in a wide range of colors. When nicely colored and transparent, this material is often cut as a gemstone. Five people who submit a correct answer will receive a Geology.com gift pack. Winners of the last quiz were from Ethiopia, Poland and the United States (3).
