USGS to Study Northern Mariana Islands

USGS will be conducting a number of studies in the Northern Mariana Islands. This include: volcanic hazard assessments, development of a early warning system to detect volcanic eruptions, research on volcanic processes, assessment of tsunami threats and ground water studies. USGS has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands for official cooperation on these studies and to train emergency management staff of CNMI.
