Impact of the July 12th Solar Flare

The sun erupted with an enormous solar flare pointed towards Earth on July 12th. This explosion launched a stream of protons towards Earth. Their arrival caused strong Aurora displays, along with brief disturbances of GPS and radio signals at high latitude.
