M6.2 and M6.3 Earthquakes in Iran

Two strong, shallow earthquakes occurred near Ahar, Iran on Saturday, August 11 at about 4:30 PM local time. The M6.2 and M6.3 occurred at depths of less than 10 kilometers. Numerous aftershocks are occurring.

The Los Angeles Times has an early report that at least 180 people were killed.
