A Geologic Story of the Northwest

Northwest Exposures traverses the region through geologic time, chronicling the events that have shaped the rocks and landforms. The tale begins more than two billion years ago when an ancient continent split, creating oceanfront property in what is now western Idaho. Pacific islands mashed into that coastline, making large parts of Washington and Oregon. These events were followed by monstrous volcanic eruptions, catastrophic ice age floods, and mountains rising to an accompaniment of earthquakes. This 6"x9" paperback has 443 pages that are written in engaging prose and generously illustrated. See table of contents at the bottom of this page. David Alt and Donald W. Hyndman, authors.
