Brussels-Capital Region is the largest urban area in Belgium. Within this region is the City of Brussels, which is the capital of Belgium. The North Sea is about 70 miles (112 kilometers) from Brussels.

There are numerous other communities and cities seen in this image. Just a few of them are Mechelen, Willebroek, Boom, Buggenhout, Kapelle-op-den-Bos, Berlare, Schellebelle, Leuven, Aalst, Denderleeuw, Ninove, Dendermonde, Halle, Oudergem, Vorst, Vilvoorde, Tubize, Waterloo, Braine-l'Alleud, Wavre, Louvain-la-Neuve, Ottignies and Aarschot.

Visible Features in the Satellite Image:


There are a number of man-made and physical features that are visible in this satellite image. Some of these are: the Zenne River, River Schelde, Dijle River, Canal Leuven-Mechelen, Brussels Airport, Dudenpark and Koninklijk Domein. Bright green patches are natural or wooded areas. Some which can be seen include: Brussel Hoofdstedelijk Gewest, Viaams Gewest, Mollendaalbos, Kapucijnenbos, Meerdaalbos, Heverleebos and Hallerbos. The image also displays a scatter of small light pink spots, which are farming fields.
