This map shows the major streams and rivers of Iowa and some of the larger lakes. Iowa is within the Mississippi River Watershed. Most streams in the eastern part of the state drain into the Mississippi River while most streams in the western part of the state drain into the Missouri River. Most of these lakes and streams can be clearly seen on the Iowa Satellite Image.
