Beijing Profile:


The city of Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is in the northwestern China about 100 miles (160 kilometers) from the Bo Hai (Gulf of Chihli).

Other features visible in this image include: the Capital International Airport, Yongding River, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Badaling Expressway, Capital Airport Expressway, Kunming Lake, Wenyu River, Liangshui River, Houhai Lake, Beihai Lake, Zhonghai Lake, and the Grand Canal of China. There are other canals visible, along with extensive rice fields to the city's southeast. Areas of agriculture surround the city, to the south, east and north. The beautiful Xi Shan (Western Hills) are to Beijing's west.
